Where can I start telling you about Laura... I first met her when I visited Lonnie's Western Room in Nashville, it was her first night that she was singing at Lonnie's. I was at Lonnie's with a friend (Brian), we dared Laura to sing the Flinstones theme song due to her outfit that resembled Peebles from the Flinstones. Low and behold, before the night was over she sang it!
Since the first night she was at Lonnie's we made a point of visiting every night "Little Red" was performing, and in the process I befriended the owner, Lonnie Powers. I started doing some computer work for Lonnie and had a chance to spend a lot of time with Laura, over time I took her 8x10 head shots, recorded her CD for her and was able to have a lot but not nearly enough time with her.
One of Laura's favorite things to talk about was her family. She adored her parents and loved telling me about the life she had while she was growing up, Laura and her father singing Frank Sinatra songs together, dancing to the music. She made a point of it to sing "New York, New York" every night that she was performing and it was amazing to hear such a powerful voice coming out of such a tiny little girl.
May you rest in peace and your beautiful voice be heard in heaven.
